Summertree Residential Centers, Inc. - Supporting Individuals With Disabilities Since 1978

Welcome to Summertree Residential Centers, Inc.

Summertree Residential Centers, Inc. is a private non-profit organization that provides specialized residential and personal support services to adults who have developmental disabilities. We have a rich tradition in this field and take pride in having served people with disabilities since 1978. The residential homes we operate are mostly six-bed capacity, with a couple that are smaller. All of these homes are state licensed. We also offer services in apartment and individually owned home settings for individuals who have some higher abilities, and do not require 24 hour support. Each situation is viewed as unique, and services are customized to meet the specific needs of each person.

Feeling At Home

Considerable efforts are made to create a home-like atmosphere in which the residents feel safe, loved, and well cared for. An extensive vehicle fleet is maintained so that all homes have access to reliable transportation to facilitate outings and promote community integration. One simple sentence which seems to capture the essence of our mission is… “Our clients do not live in our facilities, we work in their homes!” This message is posted in all the homes as a gentle reminder of why we are here and who is our priority.

Connection With Family

Visits with friends and family members is supported and encouraged. Each month a letter is sent to an identified family member or guardian, summarizing the resident’s overall wellbeing, and highlighting the activities and outings experienced that month. Parents and guardians are also surveyed once a year to determine their level of satisfaction and elicit any suggestions or other input they may wish to offer.

In 1999 Summertree obtained accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Re-accreditation has been achieved ever three years thereafter through a rigorous on-site review by CARF surveyors. CARF is a national, independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. This accreditation symbolizes Summertree’s commitment to following best practice business standards and providing the highest level of services to those in our care.
